A free review of your store screenshots.

Send us your App Store or Google Play listing. We will tell you what your first frame is actually promising, where the set loses people, and what is a rejection risk rather than a taste question.

What we look at

01

The first frame

Frame one is seen by everyone who reaches your listing; frames four onward are seen by the minority who swipe. If your first panel opens with a logo, a welcome screen or a feature nobody asked for, the rest of the set is doing work the first frame should have done.

02

One promise, not five

A set that lists five features reads as five apps. The strongest sets make one promise and then show it being kept. We will tell you which promise yours is actually making, which is often not the one you intended.

03

Readability at real size

Your screenshots are judged at roughly 25% of the size you designed them at, in a scrolling row, often in sunlight. We check your captions at the size a browsing user sees, not at 100% zoom.

04

Whether it looks templated

A phone floating centred on a pale gradient with a headline above it, three times in a row. If your set has that shape, it is competing with every other listing that used the same tool, and the tool is what people recognise.

05

Compliance risk

Fabricated ratings, invented download counts, fake review quotes, UI that is not in the shipped app. These are removal risks, not style notes, and they are more common than you would expect.

06

The technical pass

Exact pixel dimensions per display class, consistency within a class, and whether you are missing a required size or a feature graphic. Boring, and the reason uploads get rejected.

Do it yourself in ten minutes

You do not have to wait for us. Open your listing on a phone, in daylight, and answer three questions honestly:

  1. Without reading any caption, what does the first panel say the app does?
  2. If you saw this set next to your three closest competitors, would you know which one was yours?
  3. Is there a single number, rating or review inside any device screen that is not real?

If question one has no clear answer, that is the highest-leverage fix available to you and it is worth more than everything else on this page. Our ASO screenshot guide covers what to do about it.

Questions

What does the review actually cost?

Nothing, and there is no account required. Send us your store listing URL and we reply with the review. We do it because most of what we find is the same handful of problems, and showing you them is the most honest possible demonstration of what the product is for.

Do I have to use AppStage afterwards?

No. The review tells you what is wrong and what to change. Plenty of that you can fix in whatever tool you already use, and we will say so when it is true.

How long does it take?

A few working days. We read the listing, look at the set at browsing size, and write back. It is a person looking at your screenshots, not a generated report.

Does this work for Google Play?

Yes. The checks are the same, with the addition of the 1024 × 500 feature graphic, which Play shows above your listing and which most developers leave as a stretched screenshot.

Will you score my app?

No. A number out of 100 tells you nothing you can act on, and the ones other tools produce are mostly invented. You get specific observations about specific panels instead.
