Export licence

What you may do with what you make here. Short version: it is yours, commercially, with one attribution obligation attached to the 3D device frames.

Last updated: 20 September 2026

What you own

The screenshots, icons, panel sets and store copy you export are yours to use commercially, without attribution to us and without a per-seat or per-listing fee. That includes publishing them to the App Store and Google Play, using them in paid acquisition, press kits, your own website, and anywhere else you would put your own marketing material. We claim no ownership of your output and no licence back to it beyond what we need to store and render it for you.

Your source screenshots remain entirely yours. We store them to render with and to let you come back to a project; we do not use them to train anything.

The one obligation: 3D device frames

Some of the device models available in the editor are third-party meshes licensed under CC BY 4.0. That licence permits commercial use and modification, and requires attribution to the original author. If you export an image containing one of those models, the attribution obligation travels with the image.

Two practical notes. First, App Store and Google Play listings have nowhere sensible to put a credit line, so if that is a problem for you, use the flat 2D frame or one of the procedural models instead — those are ours, and carry no attribution requirement. Second, every model in the editor states its licence and its source in its own entry, so you can check before you pick one rather than after you ship.

Generated imagery

Backgrounds, lighting and decorative elements are produced by a third-party image model. Those outputs come to you under the model provider’s terms, which permit commercial use. Generated imagery is not exclusive: the same prompt and the same art direction can produce similar work for someone else. If you need something nobody else can have, that is a commissioned-design problem, not a generation problem, and we would rather tell you that than imply otherwise.

What you may not do

  • Resell or redistribute AppStage exports as a stock asset library, template pack, or competing generation service.
  • Use exports to misrepresent an app — fabricated ratings, invented download counts, fake reviews, or UI your product does not have. Both stores treat that as grounds for removal, and our pipeline is built specifically not to produce it.
  • Present another company’s app, trademark or UI as your own.

Third-party components

Parts of the editor build on open-source work, and the obligations that come with it are recorded in the repository rather than buried here: code attributions in THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md, and device mesh attributions in public/devices/ATTRIBUTIONS.md. Those files are the authoritative list; this page is the plain-language summary.

Questions

If your situation is not covered here — an agency exporting on behalf of clients, an enterprise legal review, anything involving redistribution — write to hello@appstage.ai and we will answer plainly. This page sits alongside the Terms of Service, which governs the account itself.
